Sheer Will is a lovely and well preserved example of one of Robert Perry’s bluewater masterpieces. A freshwater boat since her christening, she is an ideal platform for making her your own ‘go anywhere’ sailing yacht. For sale now in Austin, Texas.

  • "A beautiful and rugged offshore cruiser that is perfect for a small family or a couple"

    Sailing Magazine

  • “One outstanding aspect of this design is that Ta Shing builds it. Ta Shing has proven itself to be the premier yard in Taiwan. Quality is evident in every level of construction. We work in concert to insure that the boat is built as designed. This translates into a yacht that a sailor can take pride in owning.”

Robert H. Perry, designer of the Baba 35

  • "This boat can take two people around the world. That’s the first impression given off by the Baba 35, which is both beautiful and rugged. It’s impossible not to notice the heavy-duty standing rigging, bronze portals, canoe stern, elegant teak decks and the snug, gracefully wood-trimmed cockpit with its wraparound coaming. Below deck, the rich teak and masterful wood joinery can leave classic boat aficionados speechless. "

1985 Ta Shing Baba 35 | $59,000

Designed by the great Robert Perry, and built at what was arguably the greatest of Taiwan shipyards – Ta Shing – the Baba 35 manages to be as pretty as she is purposeful, a sailboat that will safely take her owners to any harbor in the world and turn every head once she gets there.

With her heavy displacement, full keel, canoe stern and well protected cockpit, she makes no secret of her bluewater ambitions, and this ethos continues below, with accommodations that lend themselves well to the rigors of big-water cruising: comfortable and secure berths, a practical galley, and cavernous storage throughout.

Sheer Will is a unique example in that she has never seen saltwater. She is the perfect yacht for the sailor looking for proven build quality, a lovely sheer, and a future of endless possibilities. She is currently available for inspection in her slip on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas.

“A larger, more spacious sister to the popular Baba 30, the Baba 35 has proven an enduring success. She has just enough charm and beauty of the old ways, blended with the practicality and efficiency of new technology. Topsides she is a classic passage maker, while her computer-updated canoe body is easily driven with optimal distribution of volume for excellent performance. The Baba 35’s hull and deck are laid-up by hand to meet Lloyd’s specifications. The cruising interior of the Baba 35 displays a thoughtfulness of design and a degree of Ta Shing craftsmanship uncommon in most contemporary yachts. The Baba 35 may just be perfect for many sailors… a beautiful, strong and completely capable blue water cruising yacht. “
